I have a 1970 60 hp evinrude, steering is crazy tight, I have greased the zirc fittings , and noticed some hardened grease looking like it had seeped out at some point, anyways I am wondering how to id the type of steering i have so I can try to figure it out. I have a manual on the way but would like to get started on this as there are some other things that must be addressed also.
thanks

ok its rack I believe I have the cable disconnected from the motor and loose from the helm but cant pull the cable out from the helm as it hits the boat. I have attached some pics, do i unbolt the nuts in red in the pic and then it will come down so I can slide it out? or am I missing something? thanks

I would love to be able to buy a new one but all we can afford is a cable so please anybody can I just unbolt those nuts and drop down the rack or do I need to pull the wheel and all?
