I just recently came upon a boat. The head was overhauled. Now it is overheating. Since the water pump was not changed, I am assuming that is the problem. I tried to remove the lower unit but could not figure out where the connection point is to disassemble the rod. I have looked at several places on line that show two nuts ( the top one to be loosened) to remove. But I don't see it. I am new to working on boats, so pardon my ignorance. I bought a service manual, but still could not locate. Does someone have knowlege with this motor and can steer me in the right direction?

Thanks

On the port side , in front under the bottom carb you will see a 1/4 in. bolt sticking out of a clevis, remove it this will release the shift rod. Removing the starter will improve access. I think it takes a 7/16 socket.
