I have been killing myself trying to remove the bushings holding the power trim rod. They just won't release or unscrew. Is there a special tool or technique to remove these things? We bought a new power trim for our 2000 Johnson 50 HP and would like to minimize the labor for the repair when we bring it to the shop.

I am linking the schematics and it is parts 55.

Thank you

Number 55 is the bushing it self. Are you talking about getting the pin out that goes through the bushings?? If so, there's a keeper on the port side you have to remove and the stbd side of the pin is threaded. Requires a special tool and a slide hammer to remove. And sometimes plenty of heat.
