There is no bolt head on top at shift linkage. I am too dumb to figure out any other way to remove linkage. Help. No progress until i receive more knowledge from OMC gurus. Thanks in advance

Go to shop.evinrude.com and look up your motor. Look at a parts break down and you'll see what's going on.

There is only one way to remove the shift linkage from the top if I am remembering correctly. You have to remove the bolt that hold the shifter handle to the block and then unscrew the top of the rod from the plastic sleeve. The bottom of the rod released after removing L/U bolts and then removing one bolt from linkages.

Well maybe there is a pin on that model.----------Has to be removed from the horizontal shift shaft at the top.----Then that horizontal shaft is pushed to the port side to release the shift rod.-------In this case some pictures of your bits and pieces will solve this in an instant.
