Trying to swap these rams out so I can have electric tilt on the one that works. No earthly idea on how to swap them. In one pic I’m pointing to a pivot pin, I believe, and I don’t know how to slide that out about 4” to make the swap. Didn’t want to keep hitting the snot out of it unless that is indeed the correct way to go about it.

Corrosion jams those things in there.------Some will argue on how I would do this.-----You will need another trim pin new / used / custom made.-------Cut the middle part out of this jammed pin.-----Drill the 2 ends starting with about 3/16" drill bit and go bigger in steps.-----That will weaken the pin so that it may fall out.

Thanks for your response! I cut the one I want out of the parts motor. Need to pick up a couple good drill bits for the next step.
this job of adding the tilt is taking a lot longer than expected.
im guessing using some threaded rob would work as a replacement?

Your local machine shop ( if there still are some ) might have a piece of stainless bar stock.------I use old stainless OMC driveshafts and recycle them for projects like that.

Yeah there’s a family owned machine shop close.
im awful at getting a hole drilled center. I think it was more of a bad bit and it walked on me. Have to get it centered on the other side.
I’m learned that having parts motors end up being twice the work for the repair.

Actually, being off-center can be an advantage. Just enlarge the hole till what's left is a crescent shaped piece. and it will fall out. I deliberately drill stuff like that off-center just for that reason.

Post #2 says that it might fall out.------Simple work can be so challenging sometimes.-------Heard and saw someone pounding ( ouch ) on the strut of a sailboat one time.----Walked up and suggested they split the " cutlass bearing " with a hacksaw.----It fell out.-----Not sure how they installed the new one as they did not use the----" please show us or can you do this for us approach "

Thanks that was encouraging enough to proceed thru it and finally got it out! It worked exactly how you said. Off center turned out to be a blessing. So I am finished with removal from parts motor and now ready to remove parts from working engine. Guess I will need to do this process three more times to remove the pin out of working engine.
thank you so much for your help!

Yeah I gotcha. Was removed before the swinging began. I was only asking because its black where the rod ends almost like it was torched on or something. Dont know why I thought the cotter pins kept the struts aligned but now I see they do that and keep the trim pin in duhhh. Good info and advice from all. Thanks again, you guys are amazing!
