How to remove the engine

I've searched the forum and looked for videos, but so far I'm unsuccessful finding instructions on pulling a Mercruiser 3.0, 140 HP, inline 4 Cylinder. I have an old 1980 Rinkerbuilt that I'd like to work on this winter.

Can anyone point me to tutorials on removing the engine?

Thanks!
Neil

Re: How to remove the engine

Bet you never thought of looking at a service manual did you? They have a section on removal/replacement, and alignments.

here is a link to download the manual. http://www.4shared.com/office/mRjamBOE/03__Engines__All__78-84.html? section 2A is what you want.

In a nut shell.
1. Remove the drive.
2. disconnect electral, fuel, cables, and hoses.
3. Remove lag bolts holding front mount to stringer.
4. Remove 2 rear mount bolts.

Lift engine out of the boat. Usually takes a shop 30 to 60 minutes.

Re: How to remove the engine

I work with computers more than engines, and on too many occasions I've told the end user to RTFM!

But, of course I didn't read the manual!

Off to print out the manual so I'll have a copy in my boat box.

Thank you

Just download it and print what you need. A lot of that manual you DON'T need. It covers several different engines.

Ayuh,... Save it to disk on yer laptop, 'n take it with ya....

Burn it on a disk, so when yer 'puter crashes, ya Still got yer manual....

Over the years, many of those manuals have come, 'n Gone, from the world wide cloud...
