How to remove the flywheel

Hey

I have a 86 28 spl Johnson. And my recuiter is bad and I need to replace it, but I cannot figure out how to remove the flywheel, Is there some specail socket that I need or what. Thanks for any help.

You mean rectifier, right? You don't have to remove the flywheel for that. It's a cylindrical unit about an inch in diameter with yellow and red wires coming out of it. Out in plain sight.

Yes, Thanks the boat mech that I took it to said that it is about a 12 hour job to replace it because of all the parts he has to remove. Thank you for your help.

Hey, even if it were under the flywheel, a half hour would be more like it. You need a new mechanic.
