How to Remove Water From Fuel

Somehow I managed to get water into my fuel line. I need to know how to fix this problem?<br />Do I just syphon all the gas out and refill it?<br />Is there a product I can put in that will fix the problem?<br /><br />PLEASE HELP!!!

Juan, How much fuel are you talking about. If it is a small amount, siphon it all out and dispose of it. <br /><br />Gas is cheap compared to engine trouble on the water.<br /><br />Dave

Depends upon how much water got into the system. ??? Also, was it saltwater or fresh????? If it isn't bad you can get a product at the auto store that is alchohol-based (I think) and that will remove the water. Go to a NAPA Auto Store and tell them you have water in the gas lines and they'll sell you what you need...... for $3-4 .<br />If you got a lot (more than a few cups) you would be better off siphoning the gas tank .... adding that additive I recommended ... and then re-filling with fresh.<br />If in doubt, or it was saltwater.... siphon the tank empty, add additive, and re-fill.

It was in freshwater.<br />I do not believe it to be much as the motor still runs, it just sputters when at high speed and stalls at low speed. I was told that this is because the motor is not getting enough fuel.

Juan,you should have a fuel water seperator in line .If you do,then change the filter.In most cases it looks just like an oil filter.some have a petcock at the bottom to drain the water out.If you dont have one you will need to add one.it is a vital accessory to have.Dont add "dry gas" to your system,it is the worst additive you can get.If you use an additive make sure it is for marine use specifically.Charlie
