How to repair about 6 inches of rot on stringer?

The pictures are pretty large, I haven't shrunk them down in size yet.<br /><br />Here are some pictures of one of the stringers in my boat. The fiber glass was cracked at the top of the stringer, and water has gotten into it and rotted some of it. It is only rotten up towards the top side. The bottom of the stringer is still strong. I found this yesterday and have had a fan blowing on it over night, now the wood is getting very dry. I was wondering if I were to use the Git Rot from West marine, if this would work and then fill in the rest with some marinetex to fill the hole. I then would probably add a support brace of some type of the outside of the stringer, and then reglass everythign very heavy to make sure it never leaked again. Here are the pictures:

it's hard to get a perspective on it..<br /><br />you need at least one 'backed-off shot..

i had a rotten stringer on my 18'bonito i just cut the old rotten part out and replaced it with a treated 2X6 and reglassed it till it was the same size as the part i cut out and it was fine. it just takes a little time.make sure you get all the rotten wood out
