The hull is mostly white, with a 6 inch blue stripe below the rub rail. The blue stripe was a little faded and the previous owner painted over the gelcoat. I now have two issues.
1) The blue paint was peeling, so we scraped it all off with a plastic scraper. The blue gelcoat is faded, but looks better than the peeling paint!
2) The entire hull was sanded with a pretty rough grit. It's all scratched up, but otherwise looks OK.
What is the best way to polish out the scrathes, and renew the gelcoat? Wet sand? What grit? Automotive compound?
I've also heard something about "soda blasting", is this the way to go?
Any comments would be useful.
