Boat stopped engaging neutral . I noticed Switch was cracked. I was sent replacement part 49646a2 because it is supposed to supersede a1. Now trying to install and I'm just not sure how this shhould look. A pic of a correctly assembled one or diagram would help.

On vacation please help thanks.

Ancient equipment, might have to adapt just the switch and not the whole new plate or try to fine the original type.

Follow the wires from the switch to a plug, with the engine idling, unplug the wires. If the engine dies when you unplug them you will need to put a jumper wire in to bypass the switch. If it dosen't die when you unplug the wires, then you have just bypassed the switch. Be sure your idle speed is low and you shift into gear with a firm shift, not slow letting the coupler grind.

Sorry, I didn't know how to edit the previous post so I just re-posted it with the correction.
