Hi!
Was going to rope start my engine just for a test (safety check). But HOW?? I released the metal plate around the engine and tought i would be able to place the rope there but no.

Do I have to release the whole top of the engine to?

Regards
Bjornis
(who, for now, checks the battery before i take a trip)

Yes you do. That's where you'll see where the rope wraps around the flywheel. There should be a latch in the front that releases it. Then it just swings up and off. That's also where you'll see the choke knob. Good luck and don't hurt yourself. They pull pretty hard.

Thanks!

Didnt have much time when i checked it. Got the feeling I had to unscrew a lot of bolts to get it of. Going to boat later today (maybe). Will check then.

Should be able to pull since I can get a really god postion and can put the weight behind (230 lbs, all muscles :) ).

/Bjornis

Bjornis,
I have a childhood memory of my dad rope starting our old mid 60's 100hp Johnny on a few occasions. It gave a lot of trouble!
At the time he was about 190 and mostly beer gut.

I'm prepared that it will give a little (a lot) trouble. Just going to try so I know i wont have to row if the battery goes dead.

Also used to rope start my snowmobile (700cc) in really cold wheater so the techniqe is there :)

/Bjornis

Checked today.

It was exactly as you said WillyBwright!

I didnt try to start, just tried to turn it by hand and it turns a lot easier than my snowmobile so there should be not to big problems to start it.

Thanks for the info!
