Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for this question but here goes...

The boat I'm restoring has a ~16gallon aluminum fuel tank that is located on port side of the motor right next to the transom. It sits on top of the deck and is hidden by the hull cap and the rear port seat. When I got the boat, there wasn't really anything to prevent the tank from sliding around on the deck, other than the hoses that were connected (fill/vent/feed). Seems like it wouldn't be a good idea to leave the tank loose so that it would be sliding around while trailering and on the water.

I'm just wondering what's the normal way to secure the tank to the deck? I see some fuel tank strap kits on iboats and that seems to be a pretty good option. Any other ideas or better ways to do it?

:)

Straps over the top with a couple of rubber strips on the bottom to let air circulate, or a 2x4 across the top with 2 pieces of threaded rod to the deck,or weld a piece of angle on each side and screw down. Just be sure to leave an air space underneath

Sounds easy enough.. trying to come up with a good cheap source for the rubber strips. Going to look around at Lowes this week to see what I can find. Should be able to find a cheap rubber mat somewhere.

Thanks NYBo.. that page is actually what got me curious about the best way to do it in the first place. So many options! I suppose anything is better than nothing at all here... which is what was there when I got the boat.
