Re: How to start a JOHNSON QD-12, 10HP?
There is a round knob on the lower right front of the cowl, which is the primer. Push in on it about 3 or 4 times, make sure the shift lever is in neutral, push the throttle lever over to start or a wee bit to the right of start, and pull the cord. Make sure you've pushed the tank primer button enough times to fill the fuel bowl on the carb. If it's been a long time since the motor has been started, you'd be wise to check the water pump impeller before you start it since it's probably dry rotted and taken a set. Those motors will not likely run if they have the original coils in them.
good luck,
