how to start it

i have a 25 hp merc dont know how to start it was rebuilt and used 3 times since and has lots of compression makes it hard to pull start has two switches on the control run/off and off/? and the throttle/shift cables are unhooked do i apply some throttle where should the choke be set? should i put new plugs since it was last run 3 yrs ago?

here again better pic would help. follow the instruction is gave you on the evinrude, awakening a sleeping outboard. the carb controls are different for the merc. a pic of the front so we can see what controls it has.

the controls are forward controls i removed the cables for transport everything should be set right as done when was rebuilt i just want to get it running give it a quick check and sell it

Are you getting spark?
Buy a spark-gap tester at your local auto parts store (they're cheap), pull the plugs and hook the tester to each wire one-by-one giving it a crank each time. You should see a nice blue spark on the tester. If not, that gives you a starting point.

Yes, I would reccommend new plugs.​

had another go at starting it.im starting to get a sore arm now only somany times i can try then i have to have a break any suggestions?

are you getting fuel to the spark plug is fuel fresh and right mix :)

i am not sure about the fuel mix its fresh but i just poured about 100ml oil to 3.5L of fuel

after you try and start it check the plug to see if it is wet with fuel.

also have you replaced the spark plugs if not i recommend you get new ones

i havent got new plugs but i will look into getting some and checking for fuel
