I m getting ready to put my new motor back in this weekend. After knowing for sure my other one got hot tore ever thing up i know i need to make sure the same problem does not happen on my new motor. should i just buy a new water pump or can i test the one i have i would rather change it now while the motor is out than in the boat. PS i am rebuilding the impeller and new thermo for sure.

What engine and outdrive?
The raw water pump for some setups are in the outdrive.

Pumps are cheap enoughand the motor is out so do it and you then eliminate that worry.
