How to test stator?

I have 70 hp johnson 1988 tested spark wavy thin blue line so i tested stator according to seloc manual i disconnected yellow wires from wire banks.I zeroed my ohm meter connected 2 leads to yellow wire and yellow wire with gray stripe manual said i need reading of 1.3 I have no reading is there another way to test stator before i bite the $200 part cost i tested rectifier and it seemed good.

For starters, you were testing the battery charging part of the stator, not the ignition part. If you are looking for the cause of weak spark you need to check the resistance across the brown/ brown-yellow wires. (450-600 ohms)

Thank you Guy it tested out at .5 which i think is okay because that should equal 500 since my meter is in thousands where should i look next for weak spark so could it be powerpack.If so how do I test that
