How to test VRO fuel delivery?

Still fighting getting fuel to this overhauled 94 Evinrude 115 Turbo Jet. Carbs were done too. Misting gas into it will get it to run. VRO oil is disconnected, and fresh 87 with 50:1 in tank. Fuel bulb pumps up hard (is it suppose to be before or after the VRO?), and start sequence is pump up bulb, key on, press in for an 8 count, and crank. This does nothing, and you can crank it till the cows come home. I've done a sinc and link twice. My question is...How can I tell the fuel pump IS delivering a good amount of fuel pressure? I DO have a good pulse at the hose to the pump from the crankcase. Thanks

Hi drackley

This is really a pain. Try to pull one of the hoses from pump to carb and see if fuel squirts out when you squese bulb and or cranck. This way you will see if it passes pump. Now I dont rember the hose hook up at pumps, but is there any possbility you can have connected two hoses Wrong ?

Check the primer system which works as your "choke". The metal solenoid should "click" when you push the key switch in, while it is in the ON position. Remove the primer hose from the top carb. After squeezing the bulb, push the primer switch and see if a stream of fuel comes out.

By the way, you should not have a rubber squeeze ball in an inboard motor. To meet Coast Guard fire safety specs, there should be a round metal disk with a push button in the middle of it. Fuel components must withstand a 2.5 minute flame test without burning thru.

G Dane. The fuel gets past the vro to the carbs by squezing the bulb, but during a crack I see little fuel comming out.
Seahorse. The primer is working, as when I dissconnected the hose and pressed the key in it hit my leg three feet away. I was wondering about the bulb, and will eliminate it. However. Since the tank is well below the carbs It was added to get some fuel up into them I see no "round metal disk" anywhere. I see no way for just the pulse of the vro to draw gas that far and up. I'm trying to resolve this here since it seems very odd that the primer is working and there is still not a pop in the engine. Dirk

That primer will only squirt a tiny amount of fuel when you push in and hold for 8. The motor has to be cranking, Push the choke in and hold while you crank.
