How to wire a 3 wire tilt. My old one was a 2 wire..

I Have A Two Wire Hydrolic Tilt Motor On My Engine that is bad. I just bought a good used 3 wire and now I need to hook it up.. How Do I Wire It Up????? Thanks .. If anyone has a diagram thy they can send me. My email is kidkapree1616@aol.com. Thank you all you have been really helpfull.

Most likely there is a ground, a "up" led, and a "down" lead. Use a DVM to verify that the resistance between the up and down leads and the ground is similar. I expect them to be about the same. If it is less than a ohm, I would be concerned. Good luck

Blue is UP. Red is common batt. positive. Green is DOWN.

86, The three wire motors used different components(solenoids) than the two wire motors(relays). You may catch a break, and be able to use the relays you have. Connect the black wire to ground. Connect the blue wire to the up relay. Connect the green wire to the down relay. Now test it. It may short, but I think it will work.

If it shorts, you will need to replace the relays with solenoids or replace the motor with the correct one.

Thats What i was looking for!! thank you!! but dont i need a solenoid for trim down???
