How to wire a simple kill switch on a 68 40hp super seahorse

this is just a simple coil, point, ignition. She dosent have a kill switch but does have a 3 way toggle switch with 2 wires coming off of it. has a starter but its not wired and there is no silinioed. would a ford silinoied work? to wire up that 3 way switch to use for the starter? if not whats a simple way to wire a kill switch

THe motor needs an outboard solenoid, not a car solenoid. The car solenoid will work, but will blow out the neutral safety switch.

A kill switch is anything that joins the 2 black wires coming off of the magneto. Not joined, the motors runs. Joined, the motor dies.

An ignition switch is easy to wire in on that motor.

OEM parts for this engine should be easy to find and will fit best. At least the solenoid.

The starter button can mounted on the front of the cowl. The kill switch simply grounds out the magneto to shut the motor down. Magneto ignition turns off with a closed switch which is opposite of most other circuits on a boat. Try to employ an in-line fuse in the circuit.

What ever ignition switch you use will need to be made for magneto ignition..or a simple toggle to ground the P-Lead of the mag and a push button, normally open switch to energize the solenoid.

yeah she has a 3 way toggle switch on it. its not hooked up to anything. I tell you my weakness is wiring if anyone has a simple wiring diigram on how to wire up the starter with the kill to the excisting 3 way switch it would be very helpful for me. the 3 way I have goes up and springs back to center Iwould thinm that would be to the start and all the way down would be the kill? thanks
