Do yourself a favor, buy an engine manual. You'll learn everything you should really know about your engine and outdrive. And the diagrams are worth, well, a thousand words!

Hi, I have a mercruiser 3.0 liter as well. Did you have any trouble removing your lower unit? I'm having a little trouble with mine. Let me know.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Matt

Providing everything is unhooked, I have had to wiggle, yank, and even hammer on a piece of wood to get them off. Be careful though. And make sure there is no hidden bolts like around the steering torque adjusting fin. Nice time to have a book about it if you don't.
