Howiedean,
I have noticed in some of your posts that you talk about your race boats and I saw the pics, they are awesome. I noticed you had mentioned about porting and polishing the heads and exhaust stuff.

I have a buddy who has been wanting to at least polish the head on my 88 Force 125 engine. Would this do anything for me or just be a waste of time? He also said that we could port the exhaust and make soem difference.

I am happy with the way the engine runs now, but would like to tweak it some this winter I think to really make it run next season.

If you have any ideas, I'm open to them.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox

im sure its like porting on a car though, you exhaust should run about 70% flow of the intake? i dont know if you could put the head on a flow bench, but im sure a minor clean up of the ports couldnt hurt?

Motors are basicly air pumps.. the more air and fuel you can pull through them the more power you are going to get... Polishing the head won't get you anything as no air flows through it as it does in a 4 stroke.. You can mill it which makes the combustion chamber volume smaller which raises the compression...

Please don't take this wrong.. I would not port a Force... they simply can't take it... They aren't nearly as over designed as the Mercs and OMCs..

They do what they were made to do.. But they are pretty close to their design limits already...

Ok,
Cool, thats all I wanted to know. lol I know it is a Force, but hey Why not try to make it do more if it can. This thing runs perfect and never had given me a lick of trouble, except for the trim pump, thats it.

I did add Boeyson reeds to it, and they made a big difference.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox
