HP Rating?

I was browsing ebay the other day looking at parts and such and I found an auction for a set of carbs for my engine. The guy stated that the only difference in HP for these engines was the carbs. This just didn't make sense to me I thought there would be a displacement difference. But if this is true I would like to see about upping my HP this way.

All this is referring to Johnson mid 80's models from 40-50-60 HP

Is this guy correct or smoking something?

Also I am looking to put a tach on my boat. I was told that the hookup should be on my remote control somewhere but I cant locate it. This is my remote can someone tell me where the hookup would be?

Try #50 in the picture.

Typically, there's more involved than just changing carbs, even though the displacement may be the same. If you want more HP, buy a bigger motor.
