hp rating

Hey Everyone! I have a 14ft sea sprite. It says the max rated outboard i can put on it is a 60hp. i have a 85hp i was wanting to put on it. does anyone know what the pro's or con's might be if i attempt to do this.....Thanks

Pros: It'll look cool, give you bragging rights, probably go fast as heck. <br /><br />Cons: Hull probably isn't designed to go at the speeds the 85 horse will push it, could end up with dangerous handling, engine weight and thrust may be too close to the failure point of the transom and associated structure, you could be held legally responsible if another person is injured or killed because of overpower. Its your boat, its your life, but you will probably get a lot of folks, myself included, who will recommend you stay within the horsepower rating.
