hull abrasion

i have an 86 century palomino. i tried to wetsand and high speed buff out a large scratch when this ugly abrasion appeared. is it burned gelcoat or is this down to the fiberglass? it is sanded as smooth as glass and doesent seem to need any filler.. how do i fix this?

You sanded through the gel coat and down to the glass, not much you can do but re-spray that spot. It won't match all that well, but will cover the bare glass.

respray gelcoat. paint? or what.. im new to boats but really appreciate your advice...
