Hull delamination - Need outward presssure, confined space

I have been working on restoring a hobie 18. The hulls are badly delaminated. The hobie forum didnt have any ideas for providing outward pressure on the walls while the penetrating resin is setting up to relaminate the gel to the glass and foam on the inside.

Was thinking of an inflatable log or pool toy that I could inflate on the inside or water bladder.

The other choice may be to cut an access port across the top and then repair that afterwards. There is a another guy on that forum that did that and just repaired the hole afterwards.

Any ideas?

Re: Hull delamination - Need outward presssure, confined space

hi welcome to i boats.

lots of help here

i dont understand what is delaminating.....is it the gell coat from the glass?

or the glass form the core?

and why do you need to pressureize the inside?...is the hull that weak?

you can repair anything in a glass boat. people attach molds from the outside, using 2x4s and arbourite, if the repair is on the inside, yes you can cut the deck and repair from the inside. as far as an inflatible, i dont think it would add much pressure.

but i still dont understand the need for pressure, there was no pressure involved in making the hull.

can you post pics?
