Hull ID vs. Year of boat

I am looking into buying a fishing boat. It's an aluminum job, and the hull id ends in D505.

NADA does not list the model of the boat in 2005. It does list the exact model in 2006, however. The dealer is insisting it is a 2005 boat.

Is it possible the hull was created in 2005 but the model of the boat is a 2006 or am I missing something? I need to have a reliable NADA value to finance a purchase, so it's kind of important I know what it actually is.

D505 says that it was built in April of 2005 and is a 2005 model year boat.

If it were a 2006 model year ibuilt in 2005, it would say D506 (or some other letter representing a month in 2005 - more likely much later in the year)

So NADA is just not listing this model? What a PITA. How can I get a reliable fair-market value of the boat if it is not on NADA?

Comparable aluminum fishing boats I suppose. Maybe NADA has no data for that year? Just use the 2006 data if it is the same boat, your bank must have some way of figuring out what they are willing to lend other than just NADA

Give them the 2006 value, and ask them to use that. Banks want to lend money.

Well, you wouldn't get a reliable fair-market value of the boat even if NADA had it listed.

NADA simply is not accurate, in the eyes of most of us.
