I am looking at a 1988 Larson DC230 to purchase. I have found some rot in the bulkhead in FRONT of the engine, not the transom. I am wondering how bad this really is? Whether it should be a deal-breaker, how hard it would be to fix (very mechanically capable myself), or how much it might cost to have fixed (for negotiating purposes), and whether I could leave it until next winter to fix (safe to boat through the summer?)
Also, it appears that there is no way to inspect the hull other than the engine compartment unless you pull up the fuel tank cover and pull the tank. Is this something that should be done? (especially given the rot I found) and how hard is it to pull the tank, or can you see around it?
Any help appreciated!! Especially any opinions/info on this particular model.
