Hull leak

I have a small leak in the hull of my houseboat, dead center on the very back where the bottom of the boat meets the back. It's a pretty small leak, enough to make my bilge run once a week.

Preferably, I'd haul it out of the water, grind all the growth off my aluminum hull and put some SplashZone on it. Since that isn't going to happen at this point due to cost and time, I was thinking of trying some PlastiDip (http://www.plastidip.com/) rubber spray on the inside of the hull and see what happens.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience using a rubber spray on a leak?

Re: Hull leak

The leak would have to be prepped and dry and I honestly don't think it would work. What will probably work is 5200 sealant. It can be put on even when wet. Get the quik dry stuff and you should be good to go within a couple hours. What was the leak caused by, corrosion?

I'm not sure what caused the leak as it was there when I bought the boat last September. It's a 1987 boat and since I'm new to houseboating, I don't know if leaks are a normal course of events with boats that sit in the water like mine.

I tried JB WaterWeld and that slowed it down, but it didn't completely seal it. Part of my problem is that I can't specifically see the leak as it is somewhere under the welded bead where the back and the bottom of the boat meet.

Go with gluvit. It will "creep" and seal.
