Hi All,
I've read a thousand threads and am still confused....please help.

I have a 15' fiberglass trailer boat and wish to paint the hull exterior. At this stage it has been sanded with 80grit paper and is ready for the minor scrapes and scratches etc to be filled:
1) do i need to use a special filler for this, or is auto body filler fine?
2) What kind of paint should i use (my brother is an automotive spray painter so it will be sprayed in a booth) - some have said 2pak car paint is the best and others have suggested that i must use a 2 part marine urethane. I want to keep costs down but don't want to do a job that will need to be re-done in a year or two.

Any advice from those of you in-the-know would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Hull paint help

I have used MarineTex (or MarineTex 27?) for the filling and sanding. It was a while ago. There may be something better out there. I would stay away from auto body filler.

As far as paint goes, I used Awl Grip on my 37' and it came out beautiful. I have also heard that Imron is good to use as well, but I have no personal experiance with it.
