Hull Paint Peeling

Just picked up my new Tournament V-18 two weeks ago and have had it out 4 times to break-in the Merc 90 Optimax. I just noticed cleaning it up today that the hull paint is peeling on the port side. The boat has not run over anything or rub up against anything other than driving it on the trailer. All the peeling is below the water line on the bottom. There is a large section about midway back and another smaller section at the stern. It really looks like the pain is not sticking to the alum. Should I be worried about it? Going to call the dealer on Mon., but though I would ask here.

Thanks,
Mark

Re: Hull Paint Peeling

I have the same thing happening on my 2007 Targa 185. My paint is gold if that makes a difference. Let me know what the dealer says I am very interested.

Called the dealer and he said that it should not be peeling and to bring it in. I'll probably take it back Monday and post what happens.

I have 3 or 4 bare spots. I have spots on each side right in front of the bunks and some down the center line. Guess I will have to call the dealer about that.

Re: Hull Paint Peeling

I would say about 35% maybe 40% of the left side is gone. It starts right at the aft end of the front casting deck and goes all the way to the transom. That whole section is not gone, but most of it. It is only the left bottom from the keel to the left side. Nothing wrong with the sides, transom or right bottom. It looks like bad primer or paint not adhearing to the alum.
