Any & all input appreciated.

Have a little hull scrap damage on my project boat and need to replace 4 Rivets under transom center.

Thought the right way to do this to do is get solid rivets and a bucking bar.

Issue is, Number 4 rivet is under the transom knee brace which I really don't want to remove.

Thoughts on as Aluminum Blind Closed End for this one?

I'd do them all with the closed end blind rivets, quicker and easier because it's just a one man job.

Dab a little 3M 5200 or marine epoxy on the rivet before inserting it and you'll be good to go.

Ayuh,... Agreed,... I've been keepin' My tin barges floatin' for Years with aluminum closed end pop-rivets...

either 3/16" or 1/8" dependin' on what, 'n where...

'n with the All aluminum 1s, ya don't get a rust spot from the steel mandrels...

EXCELLANT tip jign about using the 5200 or equivelant before inserting the rivet. I would also like to add if you use a very small grit like 320 grit and the end of your finger to kind of "clean" the small area of the rivet head the 5200 will "grip" the aluminum better and like Bondo said you will be removing the oxidation that usually is under a leaking rivet...or the "white stuff" ....lol that I hear folks call it

You do realize I was talking about applying the 5200 to a closed end blind rivet and not an open end rivet, right?

Yes sir Jigngrub. Reason I made the comment about "cleaning" the small area around the rivet hole is I have seen them still seep water due to the oxidation that aluminum forms
