Hulls that can be augmented?

Has anyone ever seen of or expiermented with a hull design that can be augmented or morphed to either improve the displacement or act similar to balast tanks.

I think I might want to design a bay boat that has a tunnel that converts into a v-bottom after it planes out.

Great idea.

How you do it: economically and physically, is a mystery.

I hated my last bay boat. It was round chined, flat bottomed, rough riding and wet. Not to mention NO lateral stability in wind or docking.

A good degree of deadrise is a tradeoff to me for not getting into the shallows. I'd rather walk into them than run another "Bay Boat" with todays designs.

Hopefully, yours will be different. I'm all ears and willing to help, as an owner of many types.

I have ideas.

I was actually thinking of using electronic motors like te ones used for trim tabs and sculpting inserts that can be molded into the sides of the hull or in the tunnel. Something like what you would see coming out of a James Bond car. I have cool design for my first go round and think it will be my simplest most toned down prototype i'll ever do. I don't think it would be all that difficult, you could even use currently availible products to do it.

Use a jack plate so the motor and a section of hull in front of it can be raised or lowered. This section of the hull can be a V shape about 3' wide and whatever length it needs to be. When raised you have tunnel with a raised motor, when lowered you have a V hull. To fine tune it there may need to be a jack plate on the motor and the hull section. This may have been tried and most likely has, but something like this could work.
