I have a fish finder I am happy with already and want to dip my toe into the gps market.

I did a lot of price searching and homework on the bazillion chart plotters out there. I noticed these 2 models are pretty dern cheap. I assume these are older models (how old I am not sure) because they are substantially cheaper than most others.

The Humminbird 755c is in the sub 200 range
The Humminbird 785C2 is in the 235-240 range

I went to the Humminbird site and looked em up and they appear to be very similar with he exception of resolution.

Is anyone out there familiar with either of these models, and am I correct with my above statement concerning differences? I know these are relatively inexpensive but I would like to know I'm spending wisely.

Thanks for reading.

I am currently running a 785c2i and have it interlinked with a 981cSI. The screen resolution is great- it works well in bright sunlight and for the money- it is the best buy out there that I could find. I am extremely pleased....

Re: Humminbird 755c, 785c2

As I recall in my research to buy ( just two months back), none of the 700 series color "combo" models were being discontinued/discounted. I DID find that some models are only "GPS ready" and do not come with the $100 GPS reciever. Some also don't come with a transducer which also lowers the price. I'm not saying this is teh case with these models but it may be. Make sure you know exactly what's included before you buy.
That said, I got my (black and white) 767 combo complete for under $300.
Really like the Humminbird units!

These 2 particular units are non-combo units, gps chartplotter only.

There are so many different models I had to look about 6 times, and I still rechecked after seeing your post!

Since I already have a fishfinder I am not really interested in a combo unit.

ziemann I am glad you have a positive experience with yours. That's a nice setup.

Going with the 785c2 as well. 30ish dollar difference for higher res is fine with me.

I appreciate you guys giving input. Thanks again!
