Does anyone have the installation instructions for a Humminbird 757c combo? I have one and had someone install the Weathersense accessory. Now the GPS does not work. I need to see if it's wired properly. I have the users guide, but can't find the install guide, nor can I find it on the Humminbird website.

Thank you inadvance for any help.

Thanks Tash, but I'd already looked on the website. I can download the user manual, but not the installation guide.

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

Thank you. For whatever reason (no doubt my being website challanged) I could not find those documents on the Humminbird website. However, not a single one had a wiring scematic on how that darn weathersense is supposed to be wired in.

I installed the GPS in the summer, but while having some work done on the boat last week (impeller, new trailer bearings), I gave the the weathersense to the mechanic and asked him to install it so I didn't have to crawl around again in the console. I was fiddling around on the boat today and found the navigation not working on the 757c, so despite my not wanting to lie on my back in a pretzel postion, there I was.

Turns out it didn't come with directions (or so he claimed). So it looks like he just unplugged the GPS receiver, plugged it into the weathersense, then plugged the weathersense back into the unit mount, putting the receiver and WS in series with one another. While the PDF's I downloaded do not have a diagram, some of the text suggested I need a "Y" connector to make these both work. You'd think that would have come with the dang weathersense. I'll know more tomorrow when I get a chance to call Humminbird.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

I did get through to the Humminbird and yes I was missing the Y cable. The woman on the phone was kind enough to send me one, no charge, which should be here tomorrow.

Just for kicks and giggles I make a another seach through the garage tonight and found the Y cable in the box for the radio I installed at the same time as the 757c. Dunderhead am I.......

Anyone need a spare Y cable? :D

LoL...if I had a nickel for everytime something like that has happened to me...

HB support has always been fantastic in my experience. One of the main things that keeps me loyal to their products...now if I could just afford one of those spiffy new SideImaging units!

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

The cable did the trick. Both GPS and weathersense are working. Thanks for the input.

Friday I'm going out on Lake Anna (a little 13k acre lake an hour from Richmond) with a guide. He's been guiding on the lake for many years and was a little surprised when I asked if he'd guide on my boat, not his and he agreed. I explained that being new to the area I wanted to have him put me on some fish (strippers) if possible, but I was just as interested in learning about the lake and large mouth bass. He seemed very happy to do it, which is why I wanted the GPS working properly. Should be an interesting experience.

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

I went with Charlie Boyles. We have a great time and he lived up to the guide's rulebook of putting the client on the fish. He showed me around the lake so I could mark some spots with my GPS. And between showing me where to fish and what to throw, we boated 3 nice sized stippers. He being the one who would hook the fish, then handing me the rod to reel it in. I felt a bit like a kid, a strange feeling given the fact that I'm proabably 20+ years his senior. But he knew the lake and his stuff so I would easily recommend his services to anyone. A very pleasent fellow to spend a day with on a lake.

My cousin visits next week and I plan to show him some of what Charlie showed me.

How do you like your Humminbird?

I have a Lowrance gear in my boat and have been looking more and more at Humminbird these days.

I have a X75 graph and 4800 global map.
I been thinking of up grading the X75 or maybe both.

Humminbird looks like they have a great product.

Been looking at the 777c2 I think thats the model?

How are the birds` 700 series?

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

I'm just getting used to having one, but I'm happy with it so far. I made a mistake in where I mounted it by not taking into account the turning radius of the base. If I want to turn the unit to the bow so I can see it from the front chair of my center console, I have to remove the unit from the base. I may reloate it at some time in the future to correct that.

But the resolution is great and I enjoy the comfort of setting waypoints when heading out to unknown areas. I just installed a weather sense option for viewing barometric pressure which looks good, but is it worth the $80 adder? Probably not, but I got it free with a coupon that came with the unit. I also just ordered a Navitronics Premium Hotmps to get better resolution on the lakes I frequent. I'm looking forward to seeing it this week. It was a $149 price buying it direct, but I found it used on Ebay for $59 plus shipping.

Does that y cable plug into the unit and split to the power and the gps module?

Re: Humminbird 757c Wiring

HB has phenominal support-Bought a remote controlled trolling motor in december. It caused interference with my almost three year old side scan. Emailed HB and within a week they sent me a brand new $275.00 sidescan transducer and applicible chokes for the troller.

They not only make great products but they stand behind them for years. The side scan unit was my first HB purchase. I replaced a garmin sonar/gps chartplotter with it. At first I was displeased with the quality of the HB's chartplotter side. I the last few years they have had multipule software updates and now I actually prefer the HB chartplotter to the garmin.

Just my two bits. It's not often that a manufacturer really stands behind their products and continues to improve on them, especially for the early adopters.

This is one case where the pioneers dont have arrows in their backs!

Go Humminbird!
