I have horozontal lines on the screen, and the display colors are right. I've had this for 6-7 years. I remove it from the boat after every time out. I have the latest update from H'bird. Anyone know what might cause this? I was thinking maybe the connections were loose due to constant plug in and unplug but that doesn't seem to correct anything. I contacted H'bird and there answer was to send it in. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and what the fix was or if anyi=one has other suggestions? I'd like to plug it into another boat if possible and see what happens to the display...before I send it in.

I see squiggly lines, not horizontal ones.:confused:

Those squiggly lines are your tracks. From the 385ci manual: From the Navigation X-Press™Menu, select Clear Current Track, and press the RIGHT Cursor key. The track will be removed from the display and permanently deleted.

I know the black squiggly lines are tracks. :) In my first post I incorrectly stated the display colors WERE RIGHT. They are not. Click on the pic to enlarge it, If you look at the depth in the top left you can see the lines that run the whole screen. When this first started I could turn it off then back on and it was ok for a while. I thought maybe running on the lake was loosening the connections originally.

I have see many fish from this spot (Perch, Musky, gills, Bass, Crappie) which is actually where I duck hunt. Those tracks are from setting out decoys. Maybe this pic is better;

Re: Hummin'bird 787c2i display problem

When I zoom way in I see a cross hatch pattern in the background. Maybe it's just getting old. Try plugging into another boat if you can. I've read that Bass Pro Shops have a setup in the stores to test FF heads, I don't know if that's true cuz I don't have a store close to me.

In the mean time you could remove and clean the connections that power the HB. Over time some may have loosened/corroded. I don't think you can do much with the pins/connecter on the back or the transducer lead. Good luck.

Oh, now I see what you mean, :redface:

That wouldn't be caused by dirty external connectors. It's possible that the connectors for the LCD itself are dirty, but I think it's more likely the screen or its related circuitry is going bad.

I might have an extra power cable, I'll have to try that. If that fails I'll try BP a few miles away. After that I'll send it in.

What can I use to clean off the connections? baking soda? sand paper?

Re: Hummin'bird 787c2i display problem

I was talking about the where the connections are made to the boat power. I have a terminal strip for +12 volts and ground with ring connectors and screws. I would undo those and lightly sand the rings or even a light scrape with a knife to make sure it's a good solid connection. Worth a try.

Since your HB is 6 or 7 years old they might not even attempt to repair it and tell you to buy a new one. I've read on other forums that $300 is the normal repair cost. I don't know for sure.

EDIT - Clean the accessory feed on the battery too.

That certainly isn't a power issue.

I would do is delete the tracks to make sure your not running out of memory or CPU capactiy. Your also overzoomed so you might be pushing the limits of the LCD
