Humminbird Piranha MAX 170 or Eagle Cuda 350S

Looking at getting a new fishfinder, college kid on a strict budget. Which one would be better for 80% shallow water application. I have heard nothing but good things from both units, I like the GPS feature on the Cuda but is the sonar as good as humminbird? Thanks

go with gps...ive been in galveston bay when a fog moved in and it was so thick that i couldn,t see the bow of the boat!!
i was able to navigate the channel back to the boat ramp by following the trail back on the gps...also handy when going to the fav fishin hole early in the morning before the sun comes up
