Humminbird Transducer leak

I have a Humminbird 400tx with a transom mounted transducer. I recently noticed a black tar like substance leaking from the hole in the end of the transducer. Has anyone else had this to happen and will the transducer still work or should I be looking for a new one?

I went and looked at one of my 3-beam transducers. I see the hole you are talking about, but even thogh mine is rather old, nothing is dripping from it. I'd seal it back up with epoxy and run it.
