My kids got me a Hummingbird 565 for Father's Day. I have it hooked up but have not taken it on the water. The only place I can really mount the unit is next to my foot an a small platform under the throttle assembly. No room at all on the dash.

My question before I go drilling holes into the floor is -- will the Hummingbird unit be influenced by the magnet in the radio speaker which is about three inches away? I ran the Hummingbird simulation with no ill effects. No warbling of image.

I am a computer tech for our building and have noticed that people with CRT's with a small desk fan get lots of interference when the fan is close to the screen. Move the fan away, the squirming image goes away.

I have two medium Bose speakers next to my LCD computer screen and get no interference at all. Can I expect the same with this fishfinder, since it has an LCD screen too? Or is it the circuit boards inside that I have to worry about?

I noticed that the instructions do warn about routing the transducer cable away from the tachometer cable. Wow, not much room under the floor to do that!

Thanks for your input,
