Hello All,

I am in the process of purchasing my first boat and am looking at two Hurricane Deck boats. One is a 1999 Fundeck 226 with fishing package and 2000 Mercury 200 HP EFI OB motor with about 180 hours. Included with this boat is a tandem axle trailer with brakes. Asking price is $15,900.00.

The other boat is a 2002 Fundeck 232GS with fishing package, 130 HP Yamaha Saltwater Series OB Motor with 160 hours, tandem axle trailer with boat. Asking price is $18,000.00

I'm thinking the 130 HP motor may be a little small for the 2002 boat. Extra power is nice but not necessarily a priority with me. I'm not a speed freat but don't want a sluggish boat either. Any opinons would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

Re: Hurricane Deck Boats

Depends on intended use and type of water. If you boat where there are large cruiser wakes etc, the longer boat would be safer/more fun. If you intend to pull skiers slalom as opposed to just tubing the bigger motor should sway you.
I have a 23 ft Rendezvous deck boat with a 120. It cruises at 20-25 mph, pulls tubers and wakeboard. Takes big wakes well.If I had skiers I would want more power.FWIW

I have a 228 2003 with a 125 merc. run well wil do 35 and did not slow much with 10 people in it.maybe 30+. the 125 burns enough gas would not go higher. it will do anything with the 125 that needs to be.and with big wakes i cruse at 20 to 25 any faster is not fun
