Hurricane GS201 / J150: Fuel gauge does not work after replacing fuel line

The J150 (sorry don't know the exact model #) on my 1998 Hurricane GS201 had been stalling after running for a few minutes with the check engine light coming on.

Since the fuel line was getting old (not sure if it was the original), I replaced it over the past weekend, hoping it would fix the problem. It did, and the motor ran great all day afterwards. However, the fuel gauge doesn't work now. (needle just stays past full and doesn't move).

It was a pain to reach the fuel tank. Like a contortionist, I had to squeeze through the battery hatch and work my way back to it. Thinking that I might have kicked a wire loose from the sender on top of the tank while trying to get out, I inspected this. It looks fine, wires are attached.

Is there something else I might have done (or not done) while changing the fuel line to cause the problem?

Also, the fuel line I replaced was 1/2". I replaced it with 3/8", which per the SELOC manual is the minimum recommended for a V6- so should this be ok?

Thanks and appreciation for your help!

Joe
