Today i got to do a back to back run with my 2050 crestliner sportfish, with the 21pitch black max from the marina, and my new 19 pitch turnign point hustler. I have installed smart tabs.

75 degree sunny day north wind5-10 light chop water temp 79degrees
4.3 mercruiser alpha 1 gen 2 1.81 gear WOT 4400-4800rpm

rpm........21" black max.......Hustler 19"
650.............2.5.....................2.5
1000............4........................4
1500.............6......................5.3
2000............8........................7
2500............12.....................9.5
3000............22......................21
3500............28.....................27.5
4000............34......................33
4500............39......................37

Do you think i should jump up to a 21" pitch prop in the hustler?

Assuming you want more top end speed, yes , maybe 2-3 MPH. you should only see WOT of about 4600-4700 with the Hustler 21.

What kind of load did you test with? Light..medium...heavy? Is 75 degs your normal high temp?

I had 2 people with gear on that test. My normal load would be 4 people and about the same gear (the fishing gear does not leave the boat), so maybe 500 more lbs.

75 degree is a average, All out speed is not a concern to much to me. It is hard to reach full speed with lake Erie 1-2 footers spraying you in the face.

Would the 21" provide a better cruise or would it be a wash between the 19" and 21"

If normal load is 500lbs heavier, the 19" prop is correct for your setup. You have nothing to gain by increasing pitch to 21".

THis is to simple...A baypro 2 in a 18 pitch or a stilletto advantage in a 19...The black max out preformed the huslter...;)...Its just a alum prop with cupping

Tail gunner,

Would going Stilletto make a difference worthwhile? With the normal wave action i see my speeds are normally 13 mph with 3-5 footers, 30mph cruise on 1 foot and under and with average wave height 1-3 i can go 20ish mph cruise with out drinking to much of the lake.

If it were you which prop would you go with, and why? Also what gains would you estimate? Thanks

The stilletto Baypro 11 in a 18p would be a personal choice in your use type. It is a overall lifting prop with a good grip. You will plane noticably quicker the boat will feel smoother and your midrange will be very crisp...:) You may lose some speed but i doubt it.

The 3 blade stilletto in a 19p will increase overall preformance it has a very solid bite and should get you some more speed.

This 4.3 is it injected or a 2/4 barrell carb...One can never determine quite how a boat hull will react to a prop..but i believe a 18 baypro will lift that hull up quite a bit..allowing you run higher on the water using your v to cut the chop..

I have a 2600 lb deep v and with that prop running on 18/24 inch waves is best done at 40 mph........30 is tough and 50 is ...exciting....and wet..

I do not have injection on my boat, i believe 2 barrell carb. Having the motor stay stone cold reliable is super important. I have a kicker on the boat but i really do not want to use it. But there is a part of me that wants to make the boat faster, because i can.

I could not imagion runnin 30mph in 2's let alone 40+mph... Like everyone, i wish i could try before i buy.

Re: Hustler review, 19" 4.3 mercruiser

:D That i understand, The black max is show 23% slip and the hustler is at 15% and that is ok i guess...The hustler is slower to respond in absolute terms but is more effecient...Funny you get the same overall performance

Now heres a thought..take the hustler out of the picture use the max's numbers and that places you in a 20p 3 blade ss @ 47-4800 rpm..In that pitch range a Solas hr titan in a 3 blade should get you the best all around prefromance speed and grip.

Two things...The baypro 11 in a 18 would still be my choice it will change the character of your boat more lift lower planing speeds better midrange punch and a smoother feel....As to the hustlers there results are always inconsistent....alought some luv em..

Maybe WH might comment....
