I have a woodstove with a Block and clay liner chimney in my garage. I also have a LP furnace to hook up. I was wondering if I drop a tin liner in the chimney can I vent them both out the same chimney. Also if I were to just poke the lp vent in the exsisting how long before it ate the liner up.

Yeah I know the proper way is to give it it's own vent stack, Wich I may do but I am currious about these options.

Lay down until the feeling goes away with the idea on venting both in the same flue. The block/clay liner is a Class A chimney, and can handle the woodstove just fine. I'd run the LP vent up next to the existing chimney, keep them seperate. Stainless flue pipe will last longer, but costs more than steel as you know.

Re: HVAC, Chimney ?

I needed to install a new furnace (gas) and A/C this year. This Spring was very nice, not too hot, not too cold. What did I do?? Went fishing, what else. By the time I got around to doing the install it was close to 100 degrees in the shade, bummer. Anyway, I had noticed that the outside chimney mortar was in bad shape, despite having the whole house tuck pointed 2 years ago. I found out WHY the mortar was in such bad shape. When I removed the metal flue pipe (from furnace to flue) I noticed a huge gaping hole in the sidewall of the flue. This was allowing hot gasses to enter the space between the clay flue liner and the outside chimney brick. Needless to say, all of that extra moisture was venting into that space and eating the mortar...duuh. Seems the former owner installed the original furnace and broke the flue liner and didn't bother repairing same. I repaired the flue liner and installed a stainless flue liner and cap. Get busy, it's no fun when the "Hawk" is blowing frigid air up your wazoo. :D Good Luck.
