Hydra sports,transom

Just picked up my old 86 Hydrasports vector from the person I sold it to years ago ,as a project .it was a great boat. however I know the transom is de laminating on one side it's wet . , there is no flex or cracks but it been wet many years as a result of how the live well fitting was installed. I've drilled the stringers close to the transom and seem to be dry with good color wood . Has anybody know how the cap and sole were put together , I was thinking I could separate the cap with the sides and floor in one piece . But I've never done it before. Or just do the transom from the outside ,I think the splash well is what gives this boat its strength ,so I don't want to just cut that off . I've done glass work but getting it back might be tuff . Any recommendations would be helpful thanks in advance .i

Post some pics for best advice. I would definitely recommend against trying to do it from the outside.

Yes doing it from the outside is kinda a last resort.

The problem with most bass boats is the MFG builds em like they will NEVER need to be tore down!!! It can be done but most of em are a PITA to do. As others have stated PICS would really help us to help you. I Think I've seen the HydraSport boats but have no idea how they're built.

I'm not 100% certain but it appears to me that the transom has already been modified to fit a shorter shafted motor??:noidea:

It's all original transom with a long shaft motor . It's a center console, I had it for about 18 years before I sold it . I was looking for anyone who has maybe done a transom on that boat . It is a low transom ,low deck . If I could separate the hull with out to much trouble I would do it . The transom is thicker then most . With no flex but it's wet .

It's all oringal transom with a long shaft motor . I had the boat about 15 years before I sold it . It's is a low transom . I just wanted to now if any body has taken one apart . This way I could do the transom from the inside . I don't want to cut the top cap in the back off ,i don't think it would be the same ,and I believe that is where most of the strength come from ,there is no wood in the splash well . Over the years i reglased the panal over the tank had the t top off ,center console off . Going from the outside seems is a no no .

Sounds like good candidate for a SeaCast transom with the old one dug out with a chainsaw. There used to be some good threads on here on that but I be darned if I can find any of them. Member Gary H NC on here did it to his Chris Craft Scorpion which is a very similar hull to yours.

Sea cast never done it before ,once it done that it . And you would have to cut off the cap on the transom . The splash well is 50% of the depth of the transom so that's why I was thinking of going in from the outside . It also seems that it's most of the support looking at the corners and the center of the well .
