Some say yes, Some say no. Most people on this site recommend "Smart Tabs" so much so, that if I didnt know better Id think they got a commision for every time they recommend them. J/K

I have a 115 hp evinrude on a 16 foot larson runabout. Just put hydrofoils on last week. I wakeboard, tube, ski with my boat. I did notice a little difference on the hole shot. Now when I gun it, you can sense the prop has more water to deal with, which is the main purpose of the foils I believe. You can trim the motor up a bit higher also which can improve your hole shot since the foils help keep the water above the prop. Other than that, it's really a horse a piece. Spend the few extra bucks for a little improvement.

That would be cool to get a commission!

But at only $100 a set (me I got $50 off from the iboats Florida get together:)) how could they afford to give us commission for recommending their product.

Granted I haven't been able to install mine yet, but I do physical have them and know how they are built. (yes I've seen them in action just not yet on my boat)

Hey check out the smart tabs web site there is a real good description of what foils, auto tabs and adjustable tabs do.

It's well worth the read!

Re: Hydrafoils

Got a headache? Take aspirin or Tylenol. Both work, one usually works better than the other, depending on your biochemistry.

No headache? Neither does any good at all.

Hydrofoils do no good unless correctly rigged. Then they can shorten time and speed to plane. Just bolted on without fine tuning they often make things worse.

Smart Tabs can do that, plus they don't interfere with maneuvering the way hydrofoils sometimes do.

Re: Hydrafoils

Just FYI, I put one on my boat last summer, it just so happens my out drive decided to start coming up by it self...the boat sat out side, covered, but the moisture caused the trim switch to rust up, WD 40 fixed it, but if I would of been turning when it happened it would of snapped the lower end off when it didn't come up in the cavity
