I have a Sea Star hydraulic steering system. When turning the steering wheel to port or starboard I get a clicking noise. It's not very load but is noticeable. Should I be concerned? Steering isn't rough or hard, seems normal.Plenty of fluid.
Being mechanically inclined it doesn't seem to be a hard job to do if it needs replacement.
Sea Star
1.7helm--6.9mpa

Are you sure its a Teleflex? Some of the early Hynautic helms "clicked". Does it do the same thing with the motor disconnected?

Good luck!

The faint clicking noise is normal. What you are hearing is the pistons pumping the fluid thru the valves in the helm unit.

Re: Hydraulic steering

This is normal it can be eather as said above the pump or it can be small air bubbles in the system moving through the pump!
