Hello there, 1978 galaxie 22xl merc 260

I am replacing a couple of the trim lines on the inside of the boat that went bad.

I have replaced the clear hose.

My question is, the black one that runs from the bottom of the trim pump.

Where does it attach on the transom plate?

And how do I bleed the system? It now has no fluid at all in it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: hydraulic trim line question

The black and gray lines are connected to the top of the junction block outside on the bottom of the transom assembly. It is the block where your 4 trim cylinder lines are connected to.Remove the 2 nuts on it and slide it straight down off the studs. It's easier if you remove the lines to the trim cylinders first.Once you get the block down you will see the black and gray hoses connected to it.Disconnect the lines one at a time from the block and tie a string to it.Pull the hose up into the boat. Then tie the string to your new hose and pull up from the bottom into the boat.
As for bleeding I am assuming you didn't drain your trim cyls. so all you need to do is reconnect all your lines. Then disconnect BOTH of the lines on ONE of the trim cylinders.Hold switch either up or down until fluid comes out of one of the hoses.Reconnect that hose to the trim cyl.Now hold switch the opposite way you did at first until fluid comes out the other line.Reconnect it.Run drive up and down a few times and it will bleed itself.Important!!Always be sure you keep the reservoir filled at all times. If you did drain the cyls. holler back and I'll tell you how to bleed them or drop me a PM.
