Currently my trim pump is just sitting in the bottom of my engine compartment and I would like to securely fasten it somwhere. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where and how these trim pumps should be properly secured in the engine compartment? Also, I am very limited to space on the side of the engine in the compartment: is it okay to mount the pump on the transom somewhere near the engine?
Thanks

kw

i dont no what you have ? merc

but anyway mine was sitting right on the deck rusting away with ever drop of water that could rust the frame

i bought a new frame and due to the hyd hoses and wireing harness lenths and the fact that my stering cable was also in the way i had no option but to mount it in the same place but was able to use 1" high plastic risers to get it off the deck and it has not rusted at all because it stays dry now :D

if it is a merc pump the new frame also has has holes to mount it to the transome the tank needs to stay level to work correctly

if your drilling anything be carefull more than a few people have drilled right through the hull or used screws that were to long and done the same :D

there are also many stainless steel frames for sale on e-bay

tommays

Like tom, it's hard to say for sure, there are many different kinds of trim pumps and they changed by year and engine manufacturer and boat manufacturer.
Any of them can be put anywhere you can access them for maintenance, and the deterimining factor is hose and cable length.
