i have a 50hp johnson with the electic shift and like others i have a problem with it. I have replaced the switch in the control box once and the new one i put in is know bad also the plastic just seems to go bad causing the switch not operate. I would like to wire a remote switch on the boat so i can eliminate the one in the control panel(a new is 80$) but i need wiring schematics to do this. thanks

Schematic should be in your manual.

c/6

Hooty

M Kenyon.... There's really no need for a wiring diagram. For the Hydro Electric Shift unit, the applied voltage is as follows:

Neutral = 12 volts applied to the "Green" wire.

Reverse = 12 volts applied to both the "Green" and the "Blue" wire.

Forward = No voltage applied.

Hey M. Kenyon, Just a piece of advice go to the green and blue wires in the motor compartment and try this. disconnect the knife connectors and run a 12 volt jump line {preferably from the boat battery=positive side} first to the green and then to the green & blue {while running motor on muffs or in a tank} and make sure that your lower leg is actually shifting as well then you can be absolutely sure that your LU is working properly. Hope this helps, Denny
