Hello everyone. My boat has a 1969 Merc 800 and it has the trim settings on the motor. You change it by pulling out the pin and moving it to another hole. The previous owner stated that the trim was set for "skiing". I just want to cruise around the lake and occasionally put one of the kids on the tube. I was going to put one of those Sting Ray hydrofoils on the motor and was just wondering how do I adjust the engine trim setting, if I even need to. The current setting is two holes away from the farthest hole that the pin can be placed in. Sorry if I seem very ignorant with my terminology, but I'm new here. By the way, the boat is a 16ft. 76' Silverline Hilo. Thanks for any help.

Trial and error, to see what works best for your setup.

I put a hydrofoil on my 15 foot Ebbtide bow rider with 50 hp Merc. I found it a little doggy with trim set in lowest hole. I got best response in holes 2 and 3, up from bottom. Hole 4 was about the same, but got some cavitation in turns. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you gentlemen. I'll see what happens when I take this thing out.
